Not until recently have I decided to start looking at the food that I buy for my children. For some time I have been observing and keeping track of what is added in the food for the babies ranging from green beans and to canned sweet potatoes. While looking at the ingredients for the bottled food for the babies, I was also comparing the prices of the food with other different brands. I also compared the prices of all the different brands with making the food from scratch. After all the investigation, I have discovered that it is easy to make the baby food. It is also cheaper and safe to make your own baby food rather than buying.
The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes for a Healthy Life
After an extensive research (exegeration but some time of research) and comparison on baby food products, I started making my own baby food. I make sweet potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, mixes vegetables and many more. It is simple to make. In order to make any of the food all you need is the respective ingredients (like carrots or green bean), any blender from Walmart will do (make sure it has a liquidify feature), water (it doesn't have to be bottled water). Make sure that you have glass storage containers to keep your food.
For these foods, you need to boil until it gets soft: Peas (sweet peas), Green Beans, Carrots Sweet potatoes, all vegetables etc. After they are boiled to, put them (one at a time OR a mixture of vegetables) in the blender and add water accordingly. The water helps not to burn the motor of the blender and also help the food to blend easily. Put the blended food into the containers and refrigirate them. You can add preservatives in the food if you want, but they usually last 1.5 weeks without prservatives.
I Found that making the food mysel saves me so much money. For example, from one big sweet potato (aka Yams) make about 20 of the small bottles of the baby food and 12 of the bigger ones. The cost for me for the potato is $0.76 and some other places $0.36/lb and the cost of the small bottles $0.69x20=$13.80 and 30 min of blending. This is a huge savings and you can put that towards your retirement or savings. Or maybe buy some more sweet potatoes for the future.
